Grand Tourmalet
It is between Barèges and La Mongie that the largest alpine ski area in the French Pyrenees extends. At the foot of Pic du Midi in Bigorre the slopes allow beginners to progress on wide slopes as well as to slalom through the fir forests. Those in the know will be able to enjoy a freeride area and more than 100 km of varied slopes. It's the resort of great skiing, with so many different slopes and landscapes to enjoy every moment.
On either side of the Col du Tourmalet, the two slopes of the ski resort of Grand Tourmalet offer more than 100 km of trails for all levels. On one side Barèges with its fir forests, its shepherd's huts, its authentic atmosphere, on the other Mongie at the foot of the Pic du Midi with its wide sunny slopes.

En snowshoes, the sound of your crampons on the snow resonates in this wild forest where the scent of pines and undergrowth punctuate the marked trails. In Nordic skiing, we discover the old arrival station of the funicular which overlooks the plateau of Lienz. We can then see the remains of this ski lift, which was once used by skiers. Finally, the sled dogs and their musher will lead you through the twists and turns of the forest for an unforgettable ride.
