Grand Tourmalet
It is between Barèges and La Mongie that extends the largest alpine ski area in the French Pyrenees. At the foot of the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, the slopes allow beginners to evolve on wide slopes as well as to slalom through the fir forests. Insiders can take advantage of a freeride area and more than 100 km of varied trails. It is the resort of great skiing, so many different slopes and landscapes to take pleasure in every moment.
On either side of the Col du Tourmalet, the two slopes of the Grand Tourmalet ski resort offer more than 100 km of slopes for all levels. En snowshoes, the sound of your crampons on the snow resonates in this wild forest where the scent of pines and undergrowth punctuate the marked trails. In Nordic skiing, we discover the old arrival station of the funicular which overlooks the plateau of Lienz. We can then see the remains of this ski lift, which was once used by skiers. Finally, the sled dogs and their musher will lead you through the twists and turns of the forest for an unforgettable ride.
