Disciplines for all desires

In the world of mountain biking, several disciplines are available to enthusiasts. Each practice offers its share of adrenaline and unique challenges. Discover this diverse universe where the passion for mountain biking takes varied forms to satisfy all desires for adventure.

Enduro or all mountain

It is the most common practice, on all types of terrain, uphill and downhill, which combines endurance, technique and speed. The material used allows beautiful enduro descents on rough terrain thanks to good front and rear suspensions.

Cross-country or XC

Certainly the most practiced discipline, since you cover a fairly long distance while enjoying nature and the terrain, in hiking mode, on the handlebars of a fairly light mountain bike.

Gravel

It is the most common practice, on all types of terrain, uphill and downhill, which combines endurance, technique and speed. The equipment used allows beautiful enduro descents on rough terrain thanks to good front and rear suspensions.

The Fat Bike

It is a bike suitable for soft terrain: sand, mud but especially snow! These wide tires allow good grip on difficult terrain.

Electric mountain biking, VTTAE or e-MTB

It is the most common practice, on all types of terrain, uphill and downhill, which combines endurance, technique and speed. The equipment used allows beautiful enduro descents on rough terrain thanks to good front and rear suspensions.

Freeride, downhill or DH

Derived from downhill, the idea is to take advantage of a completely natural, unmarked space, offering great sensations. The must is the freeride descent of the Pic du Midi, accessible by cable car.

The Bike Parks

Each summer, two ski areas are transformed into a Bike Park to make way for beautiful descents!

  • The Barèges Bike Park offers 6 downhill mountain bike trails (DH) and 3 Enduro mountain bike trails, for 600 m of elevation gain, accessible from the Tournaboup chairlift, with a view of the peaks and the Pic du Midi. A shuttle, equipped with bike racks and accessible to pedestrians, connects the village of Barèges to the start of the chairlift.
  • The Cauterets Bike Park, accessible by gondola from the village, offers 5 routes for
1 m of vertical drop, in a natural mountain setting.

The freeride descent of the Pic du Midi

In the Pyrenees, this is certainly the most renowned freeride descent! Extreme cycling enthusiasts can indulge in their favorite sport and enjoy a unique descent of 1 m in altitude, in an exceptional high mountain setting.

The pump track

As well thought out for children as for adults, this asphalt area offers bumps, banked turns and jump zones. This fun space allows beginners to understand the notions of balance and piloting. The Arrens-Marsous pump track is located in the leisure base, a good opportunity to spend some time with the family!
