    Sporting Events

    Adrenaline in the Gavarnie Valleys

Trails, cycling races, ski mountaineering competitions, and many other challenges will stimulate your endorphins on the Pyrenean peaks. Here are some of the many sporting events to experience in our valleys.

    Le Tour de France

    Epic mountain stages

The Gavarnie Valleys are one of the key stages of the legendary Tour de France. Col du Tourmalet, Hautacam, Col du Soulor, Col de l'Aubisque, Col de Spandelles, Cambasque, Col des Tentes, Ardiden... so many names that echo the history of the Grande Boucle.

Mountain stages as we like them and which have great surprises in store for the spectators!

    Trails and white trails

Running in the mountains in all seasons

In summer, mountain running enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice to challenge themselves during the many organized trails. In winter, there is no respite for trail runners! They will be able to take advantage of the many white trails to run in the snowy valleys and feel the contrast between their body heated by the effort and the fresh air of the season. An exquisite feeling!

    The Altitoy

    Major ski mountaineering event

The Altitoy, the biggest ski mountaineering competition in the Pyrenees, is an unmissable winter event in the Gavarnie Valleys.

This international race, which is practiced as a team, offers two routes: a technical and demanding one and a gentler one, thus offering great sporting moments!

    Traditional events

The living cultural heritage of the valleys

In these valleys resounds a strong ancestral culture, traditions that men have continued over generations so that the echo of their ancestors will never be silent. For a day, an evening or a weekend, take part in this echo and live to the rhythm of the valleys!

    Trad’Azun Festival

    A celebration of local culture

This traditional music festival takes place in Val d'Azun. On the program, a farmers' market, polyphonic songs, bigourdane dances and a ball await you to spend a moment immersed in local traditions!

    The Chop Fair

    A pastoral and gastronomic celebration

On Saint Michael's Day, the shepherds of the valley celebrate the end of the summer pastures at the cutlet fair in Luz-Saint-Sauveur! This unmissable event combining pastoralism, gastronomy and local culture is an appointment not to be missed.

    The Argelès-Gazost market

A gourmet journey into the history of the Valleys

The tradition of the Argelès-Gazost market has endured for over 700 years.

Each Tuesday morning, find the essentials of gastronomy and the Pyrenean region in the heart of the village: cheeses, jams, mountain honey, sheep and beef meats, fresh vegetables and seasonal fruits.

From foie gras to charcuterie specialties, the baskets fill up quickly, just follow the stands and their aromas.

    Gavarnie Festival

    Theater under the stars

Here, in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park, one of the most striking shows takes place every summer. Up there, perched at an altitude of 1 m, attend a unique theater play with the reliefs of the Cirque de Gavarnie in the background, stars as spotlights and the moon as a projector...
