About us

The Marmotte Granfondo Pyrénées offers two courses, the Granfondo (177km and 5m d+) and its sequence of 700 passes (Tourmalet / Hourquette d'Ancizan / Aspin / Tourmalet / Hautacam) and the Défi du Tourmalet (5km and 122m d+). For this 4 edition, we are moving the start closer to the finish in order to facilitate logistics for all participants.

DEPARTURE: ARGELÈS-GAZOST
Argelès-Gazost is a cycling mecca in the Pyrenees. Located at the foot of Hautacam, its history is intimately linked to cycling, as evidenced by the many passages of the Tour de France. In 2022, the Tour has also chosen Hautacam as the finish for its last mountain stage where the final big battle for the general classification was played out.
The Marmotte Granfondo Pyrénées 177km for 5D+ begins at dawn, in the heart of the village of Argelès-Gazost. Once the start is given, all the tension evaporates with the first pedal strokes to the cheers of the enthusiasts. After a few kilometers of warming up in the valley, the first difficulty of the day appears. This is the first ascent of the Col du Tourmalet, a legendary passage and Mecca of the Tour de France. A long and rather regular first difficulty. At the summit, you will have the opportunity to refuel before resting on a long descent. Once you have reached the foot of the pass, you are presented with a sequence of the two most 'affordable' passes of the day: the Hourquette d'Ancizan and the Col d'Aspin. The second ascent of the Col du Tourmalet will be your next difficulty (this time via the eastern slope).
The Tourmalet Challenge 122km for 4D+ After a warm-up of a few kilometers in the valley, the first difficulty of the day appears. This is the first ascent of the Col du Tourmalet, a legendary passage and Mecca of the Tour de France. A long and rather regular climb which will kick off the day's hostilities. At the summit, you will have the opportunity to refuel before resting on a long descent. Once this is finished, you will tackle the second and penultimate difficulty of your day, the ascent of the Col du Tourmalet via its eastern slope. You will then be on your way to becoming a Finisher of this legendary Marmotte GF Pyrénées, but keep it under control because the final climb of Hautacam may have some surprises in store for you!
