Gavarnie, a fabulous playground

Gavarnie Cirque is, since the 1980s, the most famous location for frozen waterfalls in the Pyrenees. Completely frozen in winter, the “Grande Cascade”, which measures more than 400 meters, is visited each winter by top ice climbers.

There are more than forty routes in the Gavarnie cirque, spread over beautiful frozen waterfalls ... an ideal playground for both beginners and experienced climbers! However, it is a physically demanding activity due to the difficult conditions (cold, wind, etc.) and therefore requires excellent physical condition.

Safe Taster courses

Frozen waterfalls intrigue, inspire or intimidate ... The high-mountain guides make it possible to discover this activity which is both fun, demanding and magical. The Gavarnie site and its surroundings offer a very varied climbing potential thanks to several levels of difficulty. It's time to discover this fascinating world!

For experienced climbers who exercise this activity independently, we invite you to contact mountain rescue on +33 (0) 5 62 92 41 41 to obtain up to date info on ice conditions.

Contact mountain guides who will take you to discover this extraordinary activity!
