The Pont d'Espagne

Located 7 km from Cauterets, at 1500 meters above sea level, the Pont d'Espagne site will immerse you in wild and unspoiled nature in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park (classified and protected site) and magical landscapes with stark contrasts. This is where the Gaube chairlift and the Marcadau valley both begin.  Refered to as "Little Canada", the site is surrounded by prestigious peaks, including the famous Vignemale at a height of 3,298 metres.

Once a pastoral route, the “Pont d'Espagne” was at one time a commercial trading route with Spain. This valley rich in waterfalls, lakes and landscapes is today classified "Grand Site Occitanie" (Major sites of Occitanie). It is an ideal place to learn downhill skiing on gentle slopes, to go snowshoeing or to be enticed into cross country skiing across plateaus and amongst pine forest.

Alpine skiing and Nordic skiing

Nestled between two mountains, the beginner's area, allows young and old to learn the basics of alpine skiing in the best conditions. The most experienced can head for the gladed runs near the Gaube Chairlift amidst a magical winter wonderland landscape.

36 km of slopes make this an exceptional site for cross-country skiing, between fir trees and waterfalls on the Clot or Cayan plateau.
