Cauterets is a village with original architecture that offers two ski areas each with a different atmosphere. The Cirque du Lys ski area is dedicated to downhill skiing and enjoys good snow conditions thanks to its exposure. The ski area is accessed in a few minutes from the village thanks to the gondola lift. The Pont d’Espagne, « little Canada of Pyrenees », is a unique site for Nordic skiing or snowshoeing with exceptional views and varied landscapes within the Pyrenees National Park. Throughout the winter, many events are organized in the town and on the slopes. A SKI RESORT FOR EVERYONE At Cirque du Lys, the Freestyle with boxes, rails and kicks is considered one of the top ten parks in France and is the only resort in the Pyrenees with the Oakley accreditation. Very much a family-friendly resort with a children's mini club, it has a beginner's area and a toboggan run at the foot of the slopes.For thrills, head for the steep slopes of “Les Combes du Barbat” and the “Touyarolles” area, from where, from the ridges, you can enjoy an exceptional panorama of the majestic summits of Pic du Midi, Ardiden and Vignemale, oh my!
