Fancy a hike?
From the Pont d'Espagne to Gaube Lake 2.5 hrs round trip
The Pont d'Espagne, a few minutes easy walk away, is a remarkable site that overlooks a gorge filled with rushing tumultuous waters. Upstream, you can admire the waterfalls from the Lac de Gaube whilst enjoying the terrace at the hotel. It's a must photo stop!
Here, you are in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park, in an enchanted valley with numerous waterfalls and where the pine forests give this "little Canada" its cachet! Mountain pines grow on boulders, rivers leap up high, marmots swoon in the sunshine and meadows are covered with a blanket of flowers...
Higher up, Lake Gaube is waiting for you and from here, you can admire the Vignemale, the highest massif in the French Pyrenees. In good weather, you may have the pleasure of seeing it reflected in the turquoise waters. Truly magical! Getting to the lake can be easy or demanding; you can choose to take the chairlift or to walk the famous GR10 which will take you about 3 hours there and back.
