Ideally located at the foot of some prestigious sites (Gavarnie Cirque, Pic du Midi, Cauterets), the Argeles-Gazost Valley invites you to enjoy physical pursuits and total relaxation! Argelès-Gazost, a thermal town with a mild climate, at the crossroads of the “Gaves” valley, welcomes you with its "Town in bloom, 3 flowers” award, Thermal Park, fountains and mini canals. An active city, with many shops and services, there’s always something happening throughout the year with major events and a varied entertainment programme! Something for everyone! Hautacam, located just a few minutes away, has many mountain-based activities: mountain luge (sled) (open all year), hiking for all levels, cycle touring, Segway, and of course, downhill and Nordic skiing... Near Argelès-Gazost, there’s treetop trail courses, rafting as well as “Meet the animals” at the Animal Park or the Raptor Park -“Donjon des Aigles” in Beaucens. Young and old can share happy moments filled with laughter!
Back in Argelès-Gazost, after all that exertion, time to rest and relax in whatever fashion you choose: a stroll in the thermal park, a visit to the thermal spa, a gaming party at the Casino, a good film at the cinema, a stroll through the picturesque streets, a visit to the local market with its regional products or perhaps a local cultural heritage tour. The history of the city is closely linked to hydrotherapy in the Pyrenees. Just walk around the thermal area and admire the lofty mansions, where Victor Hugo, Émile Zola and the Empress of Austria stayed... The typical villages in the surrounding area have a rich cultural heritage and are filled with architectural treasures:Pretty chapels, fortified churches, narrow streets, parks, wash houses, mills. We love Saint-Savin with its abbey, its cobbled square and its timber fronted houses ... plus, the valley view is superb!
