Departure point :
Car park at Gloriettes dam.Not a strong walker?  This lake can be viewed from the edge of the car park.


As you exit Gèdre, turn left towards Héas / Barrage des Gloriettes (Gloriettes dam).

The road is windy for the last 3 km, free parking with limited spaces.

This large reservoir is located at the gates of the Cirque d'Estaube, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and alongside Gavarnie and Troumouse cirques, it forms The 3 cirques.

Recommended Walk: the lake tour
From the dam car park, a nice loop takes you around the lake in less than an hour. There are information boards along the way which provide information on the mountain environment and the high-altitude landscapes shaped by man.
You can extend the walk  to the Estaubé Cirque : about 3 hours return trip from the car park, easy walk, dogs not allowed.
